For the last several years, our WHPS has held a special event to commemorate the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution. Citizens of the United States have celebrated Independence Day and Presidents' Day since the 1870s, and in 2005, the nation began to celebrate Constitution Day.
This year in Westlake...our historical society has planned a few hours outdoors on Sat., Sept. 16, in the Solana Plaza courtyard, from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm, to celebrate this special day. Come hear special guest speaker, Bill Covington, uniformed as a Continental soldier of the Congressional cause of the late war period, Bill will display, explain and demonstrate the clothing, weapons and accoutrements with which the common soldier fought against the troops of the British Empire. There will also be readings from the Constitution (your participation is welcomed!), informational literature available, and refreshments to enjoy.
