As the construction of Westlake's new Fire-EMS Station progresses, traffic will soon be impacted as crews cut an exit through the Davis Boulevard median, just north of Dove Road. Starting September 4, construction crews will begin work on the new curb cuts and installation of warning devices necessary for the exit of emergency vehicles from the station. This work is expected to continue through the month of September and various lanes will be closed along Davis Boulevard, just north of Dove Road, for this work.
There will be three stages involved in the closures. The first will be a lane closure along southbound Davis. The second will be closures as crews cut through the center median. Then the third will be a lane closure along northbound Davis. Message boards will be placed along the roadway in the coming weeks to give motorists ample notice.
The map of phase one can be seen above. Images of phase two and three are below. A warning pedestal will also be installed on the north and south side of Davis as well. It's important to note, these are only lane closures, not complete road closures.
Message boards will be placed in the area as a reminder, two weeks prior to the start of construction. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of September. Please proceed with caution as you drive or bike through this area and remain mindful of the construction crew's safety.
