#DoYourPart #DoYourDistance
In an effort to maintain social distancing and to help decrease the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), The Town of Westlake has closed all playgrounds, sports fields, and sports courts at Westlake Academy effective immediately. They will be closed until further notice.
Parks/Trails
With warmer weather anticipated for the next few days, many of you may want to enjoy the spring weather on our more than 15 miles of beautiful trails. Westlake parks and trails system will remain open, as long as we can, #DoYourPart and #DoYourDistance, by maintaining the recommended six (6) feet of social distancing between people while on the trails. You should also:
- Keep a safe distance from others
- Do not use the parks/trails should you be exhibiting symptoms
- Announce yourself should you pass someone while walking or running
- Bring hand sanitizer should you need it
- Keep dogs on a leash (are required by Ordinance)
- Properly dispose of trash
We are receiving daily updates from both Tarrant and Denton County, as well as the CDC, that proper distancing is an important way we can help mitigate the spread of the virus. For information about the use of trails during the Covid-19 virus please visit the National Recreation & Parks Association (NRPA).
Temporary signs will soon be displayed along our trails to remind everyone.
Golf Courses
Social distancing is especially crucial for golf courses where close gatherings tend to occur. A notice was sent out this weekend to members of the Vaquero Club reiterating the importance of staying far apart from others.
Contact Journals
Should you need to venture outside of your home, Tarrant County Judge, Glen Whitley, and the Tarrant County Health Department are asking that you please keep a journal of the date, time, and place of your activity, along with a list of people and businesses with whom you have come in contact or visited. Journals such as these will make the job of the epidemiologist that much easier should you or someone with whom you have been in contact contract the virus.
The above recommendations are in response to Governor Greg Abbott’s and Tarrant County’s recent announcements regarding tighter restrictions on gatherings at both the state and local levels. As of today, Tarrant County is NOT under a shelter-in-place order, but that could change at any time.
Please know that your health is our primary concern. With your help and support, we can all work together to combat the spread of COVID-19. Social distancing is crucial to achieving this goal. We appreciate all your efforts and please stay safe.
Respectfully,
Amanda DeGan
Westlake Town Manager
