Good afternoon,
The Tarrant County Public Health has informed us that the Town of Westlake now has its first confirmed case of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We’re told this was a travel-related infection, not spread communally.
It is also unknown if the person has been hospitalized or is recovering at home. In the interest of the resident’s privacy, their name and other personal details cannot be released.
We ask that during this time you please remember that social distancing is critically important. We continue to get calls from concerned residents about neighbors who aren’t following these guidelines.
Everyone, excluding family members, is to stay 6 feet apart at all times including while you’re in parks, golf courses, and trails. You can read more about that here.
Should you need to venture outside of your home, Tarrant County Judge, Glen Whitley, and the Tarrant County Health Department are asking that you please keep a journal of the date, time, and place of your activity, along with a list of people and businesses with whom you have come in contact or visited. Journals such as these will make the job of the epidemiologist that much easier should you or someone with whom you have been in contact contract the virus.
In the meantime, if you have any questions at all, please contact the Tarrant County COVID-19 hotline at (817) 248-6299 or visit our Town’s dedicated webpage with news and resources about the Coronavirus.
Together, we will get through this. #DoYourPart #DoYourDistance
Sincerely,
Mayor Laura Wheat
