As we continue to navigate this time filled with social distancing, stay/work from home routines, virtual learning for our students, continued community transmission of the Covid-19 virus, and now the wearing of cloth face coverings (masks) to decrease the spread of the virus - we are also reviewing and adjusting operations to remain financially healthy in the short and long-term.
The staff teams have always approached our budget preparation processes from a financially conservative position to provide the services you need as a resident. We are in the midst of compiling our budgets for both municipal and academic services for the coming year and our fiscally conservative methodology will continue during these uncertain times. We are also reviewing available options to defer expenditures or postpone projects to best position us as we close out this year.
You will likely hear stories or see news feeds from other cities of their need to reevaluate their financial projections as we look forward to the current health crises. This work is already underway in earnest for Westlake and we will update you and the Town Council on our efforts as we ’build the budget’ document and compile projections for the next five (5) years. Please know that I am available for any questions you may have on this (or other) issues and can be reached at adegan@westlake-tx.org.
