Despite the impact of COVID-19 on our nation’s economy, many if not most projects around Westlake are still moving forward full steam ahead. With so much going on around our Town, we figured it’s time to update you on many of the projects underway this summer.
Let’s start with Entrada where the bell tower at the retail corner is nearly complete. Starbucks has moved in and is doing work inside as they prep for a possible August opening. Other tenants are also getting set to move in soon. Staying with Entrada, an exclusive underground gun club was just approved by Council. The lot will include private vaults for storing art or displaying other valuables and collectibles. A boutique hotel, a jazz club, and an upscale grocery are also planned for the site as well.
Solana Plaza has been getting a major overhaul in the last few months with additional parking and amenities being added.
Now to the Charles Schwab headquarters where phase one is complete. Phase two is about 70% complete with interior work being the focus currently. Crews are actually ahead of schedule. Completion was set for the spring of 2021, but it’s possible, they could be finished by the end of the year.
Turning to the residential side of development now where the infrastructure of The Knolls at Solana is complete. You may have also noticed the trail along Solana Boulevard is also open. The subdivision is now ready for building permits so you should see the construction of new homes in the coming months.
Quail Hollow is moving along quickly with 20 building permits issued for new homes which has been encouraging in these difficult times.
“The impact of COVID-19 on Westlake has slowed down some home construction, but commercial construction is progressing rapidly. Despite the slow down on the residential side, we fully anticipate a full recovery. We’re very optimistic moving forward”, says Westlake Planning and Development Director Ron Ruthven.
The big takeaway from all of this is that Westlake continues to grow and thrive. Exciting times are ahead for our Town and you have a front-row seat for it all.
