Good evening, Westlake,
We wanted to give you an update on the winter weather and its impact on Westlake's roads. As you've seen, the snow has increased in our area over the last few hours and will continue throughout tonight and into Monday morning. Snowfall rates could be around 1 inch-per-hour.
This heavy snow combined with winds gusting 20 to 30 miles per hour will create white-out conditions making for a dangerous situation on our roadways. Town staff has been on the roads and highways around Westlake since early Sunday and will continue to monitor the situation as conditions worsen.
All intersections, curves, and hills have been sanded with several more rounds of treatment expected over the next few days. Town crews have halted sanding until the heavy snow has stopped falling but will immediately resume so that the roads are covered for those heading to work in the morning. Crews are constantly updating conditions on our streets which we immediately relay to you via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
If you are in an accident or get stuck in the snow or ice, please call 9-1-1 immediately. Our Westlake Fire-EMS team as well as Keller Police will respond as quickly as they can. We urge everyone to stay off the roads as conditions will most certainly become worse overnight.
Thank you and please have a safe week, Westlake.
