What happens once a stray animal is picked up by Animal Services personnel?
Stray animals picked up by Regional Animal Services and brought to the Regional Animal Adoption Center are ineligible for adoption for three days so that owners have the opportunity to retrieve their pets.
Animal Services employees make every effort to contact the owners of animals who arrive with an ID tag or microchip, but it is the owner’s responsibility to contact the center if they have lost a pet. Once an animal’s hold period has expired, it will be added to the Humane Society of North Texas' pet inventory listings and be made available for adoption.
Please note the regional center has limited space. Owners are asked to retrieve their pet within 24 hours of being notified by center staff.

Helpful handouts to help our residents who have encountered coyotes in our community have been provided by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) after a previous workshop was held at Town Hall.
